I thought I'd take a second to remind me what this means - "Quorum nos unum esse volumus" - 'of whom we will that you be one.'

I found this quote from Pres. Boyd K. Packer, referenced in a multitude of talks, and couldn't help but wonder what that meant. "Of whom we will that you be one".. So, duh, I googled it!

Nobody could give me a straight answer. Something about latin bodies of organization, referenced in the LDS church to relate to the Priesthood. So I googled "quorum," and found that it meant the members of an assembly.   "Nos" - I knew that meant "us," or "we," in Spanish at least. "Unum" surely had something to do with unity. And with my Spanish background I considered that "esse volumus" would mean, "that volume," or "that people."

I got chills. When I broke it apart, it suddenly dawned on me what it meant - that we work together as a team. That we be one. And I couldn't get over it. As a family, as a team, as a community, as a company.. If we don't act in unity, we can't ever succeed.

When we do act in unity, we can do so much good. We just have to cling to each other.

Yet again, I have no idea where this picture's from, but I give the credit to wherever it's due. I am so grateful for this idea. This image of her clinging to him, and his lips pressed against her forehead. They seem to be in a circle of promise, of "I will be here for you." And I love that.

As a family, as a country, as a world, if we would just be unified... If we could all be one... We could do all things.

But I guess I'll start with family (:

Update:

This.

Found on probably my favorite Tumblr ever...

Wish I knew where it was on the Tumblr, but I'll be honest...

You'll have more fun scrolling through those photos anyway.

The Good Life

So I've been thinking about how good this life really is...

I mean, not all the time. Sometimes, you get a staph infection and a cold, and you nearly fail two tests, all in one week, even though you swear you studied what should have been adequately...

But you just can't get angry at the world, because the people in it are so. good. to you.

See, I got my mission call to the Mormon church this week (mormon.org). It's kind of a big deal, but what was the most big deal for me, was the support I got from people I hardly expected it from.

Like uncles and aunts who show up with sympathy bandaids on their head, so that you're not the only dweeby one in all the pictures.

Or people who stop doing their homework just for you, so they can Skype all the way from Utah to watch you talk.

And I just can't believe that people are so good.

One of my friends posted this on Pinterest the other day:
I wish I knew where it came from or who made it in the first place, but the quote is just so starkly accurate. There are so many people in the world. All of them have their own story. All of them have a background that nobody can understand...
But if we just give them a chance...
College has been enlightening for that. Who knew I could make so many new friends, in such a tiny little place!! I just love... people.

Some are American. Some speak Cebuano. Some live in Finland. But for crying out loud, we're all people!!
It takes a little effort, but when you see it, it's honestly amazing. People are so good, especially when you just take a little chance and try to be good to them.
Unity comes when we all just try a little bit to help each other.
They'll probably try to convince you otherwise. Convince them wrong.

Anyways, that was my shout out to the world today. Not that I want this by any means read by anybody...
It's just good to know there are so many good people in the world.

Thanks, longwinded, to them (:

I have this secret hope that nobody will ever find this blog, that it will live forever in the recesses of my own mind, just... all over the internet. The problem is, I also want this to be the happiest blog ever - that whether you're married, single, widowed, or venturing into any other change of life, you could come here and find just one thing that would make your day a little better.

I imagine it would be like one of those journals that are hip these days - the ones where you print pictures that make you happy and glue them in next to some of your favorite quotes, and maybe even write a little about your day. But since I have neither a color printer nor any level of creative handwriting, I hope that this doubles equivalently. That's the goal anyway.

So see? I don't really want anyone to run into it, after all.

I'd rather it just float by everyone's attention, and never catch your eyes.

But oh, in the midst of joy...how do you not share it with others??
